New Board Member Announcement:
Welcome Dr. Alice Bonner

The Age-Friendly Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Alice Bonner to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Alice Bonner has been a geriatric nurse practitioner caring for nursing home residents and their families for over 30 years. Her work focuses on engaging and empowering older adults to age in their communities, supporting caregivers of individuals living with dementia, working to prevent elder abuse and mistreatment, and advocating to end elder homelessness. Previously, Dr. Bonner served as Secretary of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

She currently serves as Senior Advisor for Aging at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). She is also Director of Strategic Partnerships for the CAPABLE Program and Adjunct Faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing.

“I am delighted to be a part of such a committed board and leadership team, helping to drive the Institute’s core initiatives forward,” remarks Bonner. “We have an ambitious agenda with the launch of, certifying more employers as part of the CAFE Program, and strengthening relationships with public and private sector partners to create a more inclusive and age-friendly ecosystem.”

“Alice’s guidance and expertise will bring energy to the board and strengthen our commitment to support healthy, active and productive aging for all” says Institute President Tim Driver. “Her input and perspective as a healthcare professional will be significant as the organization continues to grow.”
